Facts: This palace was constructed in 1682 as an Institute for Marine and Seafare. In 1849 it became the private residence of the Duke of Montpensier and stayed so until 1893. It also contained the parquet de Marie Luisa. In 1901 it became a college and today it houses the regional government, Junta de Andalucia.

In his youth he lived a very scandalous life full of seduction and deceit. He later had a vision of his own death and dedicated himself to a life of charity and religion. It has a beauteful double patio with two fountains from the 17th century. The walls of the patio are decorated with Dutch ceramic tiles depicting scenes form the Bible. The hospital church has a collection of great masterpieces and an impressive main altar piece , a purely baroque work by Bernardo Simon de Pineda which represents the 7th work of compassion: the burying of the dead.
