Ronda is a beautiful town. Famous for it's Puente Nuevo dating from the 18th century and the bullring, built in 1784, the oldest in Spain. Ronda is situated 45 km from the main coast. It is a picturesque drive through the mountains up the serpentine roads. The landscape changes from green vegetation to a White Mountain range. You could take the train from Algeciras or La Linea, providing you with a beautiful scenic view from the sea through the mountains. Ronda has many museums and you can spend a whole day there. The majority are very small and you can visit several in one day.
The town itself has a pretty pedestrian road, winding down to the Tajo. You will find a lot of bakeries here, selling delicious local pastrys, cakes and sweets such as "fried milk" (Leche frita). Personally, I like to buy shoes here but there are also many other interesting shops, which are worth a visit to Ronda. Remember, the shops close between 2pm-5pm due to the Spanish siesta. It 's when the town seems to sleep and the best time for you to visit the sights.
