Once you have parked your car in the park house, you can take the stairs or elevator up. To your left you will see the tourist office and the donkey Taxi photo3 (tourist map Nº2). Pick up a map at the tourist office (1). Walking left towards the donkey taxi you will see the Shrine of the Virgin Rock photo1 (3). To your right you will see the beautiful Town house (14) and opposite are several nice cafes where you can enjoy your Spanish breakfast. (Order e.g. a Catalana, which is a baguette with mashed tomatoes, olive oil and cured ham). Cross the main square diagonally (Plaza Virgen de la Peña photo2) where the horse carriages are standing. All year round you can catch a free Flamenco show here on Wednesdays at noon (depending on weather also).
To the left of the Plaza steps lead up to Avd. Del Compas. If you make a left at the top it will bring
you to the Miniature museum (4). If you turn right here you will eventually get to the Ethnographic museum (13), on the opposite side you will already see the Iglesia San Sebastian (12). Make a right after the church at the Plaza de la Libertad and walk a few meters to the wine museum (11). From the outside it looks more like a restaurant, so do not walk past it. Once back at the Plaza de la Libertad, continue down the Avd. Del Compas bearing left to the Plaza de la Constitución photo4 (5). Here you can shop around a little bit and buy some Lladró porcelain. Then make a left into the commercial centre which has two restaurants with a great view down to the Coast. Crossing the Plaza de la Constitución you will find steps leading up past a watchtower which brings you straight up to the bullring (6). Do not miss it and go inside; the museum is a colourfully decorated courtyard and you will have a gorgeous view onto the village from inside the bullring. The Parish church (7) is located opposite the bullring and basically you should first turn left here to take a walk along the fortress walls photo5 (8) around the back of the church ending up at the auditorium again, which is located to the right of the parish church. It is a wonderful small walk with painted tiles serving as explanations for the 52 plants and trees you can see there. Continuing around the back of the bullring down calle Muro (look at your map) you will eventually get to the old forge caves (9) after this you will see on your left, one of the typical white village flowery streets photo6 One of them being the Callejon de los Gitanos , another the Calle de las Flores . Walk towards the shrine of Lady of the Merits (10). From here make a right towards Plaza FCO Jimenes Alarcon and another right up the Calle Larga towards the Mirador from where you can climb down to the Shrine of the Calvario (15). This will get you back to calle San Sebastian, stop at the wine museum for a last tasting and eventually after hopefully having enjoyed the whole beauty of this wonderful white village head back home.
